Privacy Policy

The short version. Revocal has no accounts and no server of ours. Your recordings, your transcripts and your saved clips stay on your phone. We do not collect them, we cannot see them, and there is nothing for us to hand over. The only things that leave your device are the ones you send yourself, and two technical exceptions described below.
1. Who this covers
This policy covers the Revocal iOS app and the website at revocal.app.
2. What the app stores, and where
Everything Revocal makes is written to your device's own storage, inside the app's private container:
- the video and audio of each take;
- the transcript the app produces to build the subtitle band;
- clips you save to Studio, and the small index that lists them;
- your settings, such as maximum take length and whether shared clips carry a watermark.
None of this is transmitted to us. There is no Revocal account, no login, no sync and no backup service. Deleting the app deletes all of it. Anything you have separately saved to Photos or sent to someone else is outside the app and is not removed by deleting it.
3. Permissions the app asks for
- Camera — to film a take. The camera runs only while you are on a recording screen.
- Microphone — to record the audio that gets reversed.
- Speech recognition — to turn what you said into the on-screen words. See section 4.
- Photos (add only) — used solely to write a finished clip to your camera roll when you ask for that. The app cannot read or browse your photo library.
You can withdraw any of these at any time in iOS Settings. The app will lose the matching feature and nothing else.
4. Speech recognition — the first exception
Revocal uses Apple's Speech framework. Where your device supports on-device recognition, the app requests it and your audio is never sent anywhere. On devices or in languages where Apple does not offer on-device recognition, Apple performs the recognition on its own servers, which means a recording of your speech is sent to Apple. That processing is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not by this one. We never receive that audio or the result of that processing.
5. Fonts — the second exception
The app's interface currently loads its typefaces from Google Fonts when it opens. That request tells Google your IP address and basic device information, in the same way visiting any web page does. No recording, transcript or app content is involved. We are moving these fonts into the app so that this request stops being made.
6. Sharing a clip
When you share, Revocal hands the finished file to the iOS share sheet and you choose where it goes — Messages, WhatsApp, TikTok, Photos, anywhere. From that moment the clip is in the hands of whoever you sent it to and whichever service carried it, under that service's own terms and privacy policy. Clips that leave the app carry a small Revocal watermark; the copy kept in Studio does not.
7. Purchases
If Revocal offers paid features, purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your card details, and we receive only the anonymous transaction record Apple provides to developers.
8. Analytics and tracking
The app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash reporter and no tracking identifier. It does not use the Advertising Identifier and does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, because it tracks nothing.
9. The website
revocal.app is a single static page hosted by Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Cloudflare, as the host, records standard server logs including IP addresses for security and abuse prevention, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.
10. Children
Revocal is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Because the app collects nothing, there is no children's data for us to hold or delete.
11. Your rights
Privacy law in Australia, the EU, the UK and elsewhere gives you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal information a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to produce or erase on request. Your data is on your device and under your control: delete a clip in Studio, or delete the app, and it is gone. If you believe we hold something about you, write to us and we will answer.
12. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
